Statement of Objective

The challenge of getting together the myriad doctoral research in all 
spheres of management and their related fragments under one umbrella, providing a common base for interaction, and pooling in resources related to doctoral research in management, not only in India, but also abroad has already been initiated through our electronic forum specialistsindia. The purpose of bridging the geographical distances among us has already be attended to through the yahoogroup.  The next purpose is to know each other well face to face, identify the common areas of interest and discuss, identify the new emerging areas for research and so on which can be served through the proposed doctoral symposium. 

While getting doctoral research in management together, there is need for mentioning the linkages between industry and academics, the linkages between theory and application, and between research and implementation. These linkages are an essential and necessary appendage of the doctoral symposium that we, the doctoral students are planning for the near future. Without these aforesaid linkages being one of the main objectives of the meet, the whole 
exercise might lack the finishing touch and thus remain quite fruitless and incomplete. After a lot of deliberations among various students, it was thought that it is very essential that every doctoral student attending the symposium must have some take away irrespective of which phase the student is in (Course work stage, research proposal stage, data collection stage etc.). 

You will agree that it is not possible to attend to the interest of everybody to a great extent in a 3 days long symposium but surely there has to be a clear incentive for everybody to attend this symposium. When we meet at IIM Ahmedabad we can work out the further modalities of our forum. We can have brain storming sessions to further refine and fine tune the objective, mission, vision etc. when we meet here. Not only incentivizing doctoral students and attending to the interests of everybody, it is essential to have some focussed outcome as well. In addition to it we need to look at the interest of 
the sponsors.
