Sep 30, 2007 Since Kanu was visiting us, we decided to just drive. Ended up going to the Big Banyan Tree at Ramohalli. Spread over 3 acres, this is the third (3rd) largest banyan tree in the country. The song 'Yeh dosti' in movie Sholay was shot here (the rest of the movie was shot in Ramanagaram, a place nearby that has recently been brought into South Bangalore limits. In Sholay, the place was called Ramgarh!). I had been to this place numerous times earlier as well, but I always love it there. You gotta be careful with your food/snacks as there are tonnes of monkeys around, swinging from the tree tops. After Ramohalli, we went to Kanva reservoir, which is further up on Mysore road, 7-8 kms off the main road. This is a serene place, not visited by many people. Dont expect too much and you'd be fine. On the way back, we made a regular pitstop at Kamath Yatri Nivas, next to Janpada Loka.
