    Mysore

Went to Mysore to watch the famous Dusshera Parade.  This time I went with 6 foreign students who were here on an exchange programme.  It was real fun.  Came back on 19th (Tue) night.

My Mysore trip was really good.  I went with 6 exchange students who were here from various countries.  We stayed in a hotel called The Green Hotel which used to be a Palace (a very small one) of Tipu Sultan.  Only, in 1995 it was converted into a hotel.  Before that, it used to be given on rent for film and TV serial shoots.  If u remember the serial "The sword of Tipu Sultan" (directed by Sanjay Khan), a part of it was shot at this hotel/palace.  And also, if u remember there was a fire during the shooting in which lot of people had died, that fire happened at this palace and 380 people died on the lawns of the palace (in front of the rooms we stayed at!).  We got to know about these things only the morning after we had stayed at the hotel.  And we felt like:  Oh, man!  u have seen some history today.  And the hotel staff said that the people told Sanjay Khan to not take (from Govt) the original sword of Tipu Sultan for the shooting purposes, and that it would bring bad luck it him, he still went ahead and took the original sword.  And thats why the fire happened, people say.

And the Mysore Dussera parade was very good.  We watched it from near the Mysore Palace.  It was very similar to the Republic day parade, only difference being the "Jhankis" (exhibits on wheels)  belonging to the districts of Karnataka rather than the states of India.  I clicked a lot of pictures.
